Serco is seeking a highly skilled Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E) Manager to join our team as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on our Asylum Accommodation and Support Contracts (AASC). As a key member of our team, you will provide high-quality, competent, and specialist HS&E support to our site, ensuring compliance with our Service Level Agreement.

You will work closely with our HS&E team members, providing regulatory guidance and functional leadership to support the site in achieving improvements in performance, leading industry sector best practice forums, and enhancing our reputation. Your expertise will be instrumental in designing and implementing a risk-based training schedule and HS&E Management Assurance plan, as well as delivering a robust reporting process that allows predictive assessment of potential health, safety, and environmental-related failures.

As a Health and Safety Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the business as a whole, ensuring that our customers and those affected by our operations do so in a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible manner. You will also be responsible for leading accident/incident investigations, providing feedback on service performance, and supporting or leading compliance audits.

Requirements:

  • Passion for Health and Safety
  • Membership of a related professional organization (e.g., IOSH)
  • Experience in regulated workplace environments
  • Qualification in Fire Risk Assessment/Management
  • CPD maintenance or working towards it
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to manage workload and prioritize according to risk
  • Decision-making and accountability
  • Familiarity with HS&E management policies, standards, processes, and procedures
  • Understanding of management systems and relevant HS&E requirements
