Product Development Technologist

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Development Technologist to join our New Product Development (NPD) Team at Avara Foods. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and delivering new products that meet the needs of our customers and drive business growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Category and Market Knowledge: Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and developments in the retail and food service markets, and have a deep understanding of current products and ranges.
- Manage the NPD Programme: Work closely with cross-functional teams to identify requirements and plan schedules of work for product delivery.
- Use Recipe Professor System: Utilize the Point 74 Recipe Professor system to develop and refine recipes in accordance with agreed procedures.
- Attend Business Unit NPD Meetings: Participate in regular meetings with the NPD team to discuss progress, share knowledge, and align on goals.
- Ensure Development Activity is Completed: Ensure that all development activity is completed in line with NPD procedures and processes, and that information is accurately recorded.
- Deliver the Launch Programme: Work with technical and operations teams to organize and execute production trials, and manage subsequent shelf-life assessments, organoleptic testing, cooking instruction verification, and nutritional sample analysis.
- Validate Product Costing: Use production trials to generate information to validate product costing.
- Manage Launches: Ensure that products comply with specifications and meet agreed quality parameters.
Requirements:
- Experience in developing and launching new products with retail and food service customers.
- Experience of working within product development in an FMCG environment.
- Knowledge of the functional characteristics of food ingredients.
- Thorough understanding of the product development process from concept through to launch, with previous experience of adherence to Retailers NPD systems.
- Computer literate.
- Full UK Driving License.
Desirable:
- A recognised qualification in Food Sciences or related subject areas.
- Experience of working within product development in an FMCG environment - ideally Meat/Poultry.
- Knowledge of food labelling and ingredient regulatory requirements.
