About the Role

We are seeking a skilled French Polisher to join our Engineering team at Jumeirah Carlton Tower, a luxurious hotel in the heart of Knightsbridge, London.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain the highest standards of craftsmanship in polishing and restoring fine wood furniture and fixtures throughout the hotel.
  • Work closely with the Director of Engineering and Assistant Director to ensure all maintenance and decorative duties are completed to the highest standard.
  • Undertake projects and complete tasks such as painting, wall coverings, silicone works, tiling, French polishing, light carpentry, and special repairs to ensure all areas of the hotel are well-maintained and presented.
  • Report any incidents, complaints, or safety hazards immediately to the relevant authorities.
  • Input all work requests into the Hotsos system and record actions and status.
  • Advise supervisors or duty managers of any serious problems or failures, providing relevant information for follow-up.
  • Ensure all necessary safe operating procedures and instructions are followed correctly, including the wearing of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Carry out maintenance and repair work in a clean and tidy manner, minimizing the impact on guests in public areas.
  • Project a positive and joyful attitude, staying composed under pressure to create goodwill and nurture working relationships with colleagues.
  • Complete planned preventive inspections as directed, logging on relevant software and log sheets where required.
About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous experience in a luxury hospitality environment.
  • A proven track record of working with high-end materials and finishes, showcasing exceptional attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in using a variety of polishing techniques and tools to achieve impeccable results.
  • A strong understanding of wood types, finishes, and restoration methods commonly found in upscale settings.
  • Certification or training in French polishing techniques or related areas is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with designers, contractors, and other team members to fulfill clients' exacting requirements.
