About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join our team at South West Water. As an Electrical Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of electrical systems and equipment across our operational sites.

Your primary focus will be on fault finding, repairing, and maintaining assets to ensure the reliability and efficiency of our drinking water and wastewater services. You will work closely with other disciplines in a mobile field team to diagnose and resolve electrical issues, and provide technical support to our internal customers.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong understanding of electrical systems, including fault finding and repair, and experience working with 3-phase electricals. You will also need to be able to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in a variety of weather conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Delivery of quality support using expertise and experience in electrical maintenance.
  • Carrying out repairs and maintenance across operational sites, including fault finding and diagnosis.
  • Working with other disciplines in a mobile field team to resolve electrical issues.
  • Providing technical support to internal customers, including compiling and updating site engineering documentation.
  • Proactively supporting our internal customers to meet the South West Water vision of Trusted, Responsible, Collaborative, and Progressive.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and carry out works to the satisfaction of the maintenance delivery model and operations team.
  • Compliance with current ISO, H&S systems, procedures, and policies.
  • A willingness to undertake training to ensure continued improvement of technical skills and Health and Safety awareness.
Requirements
  • Essentials
  • 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths, English, and Science at grade C or above.
  • Apprenticeship supported by relevant formal qualifications, e.g., City and Guilds, BTEC, ONC/HNC/HND.
  • Compliance with current IEE Regs 18th Edition.
  • Experience with fault finding and 3-phase electricals.
  • A full UK driving license is required.
  • Desirables
  • City & Guilds Inspect and Test.
  • Industrial/Commercial experience required.
  • Experience with VSDs, soft starts, and motor control systems.
  • Understanding of Wiring Diagrams.
  • Knowledge of working with Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
  • Good working knowledge of LV systems (working with 415vac down to 24vac and dc control and indication).
