Job Title: Managing Quantity Surveyor Role

Location: UK

Salary: £90,000 - £120,000 per annum

A dynamic and fast-growing utility engineering contractor is seeking a Managing Quantity Surveyor to lead our team and deliver cutting-edge civil engineering solutions to some of the UK's leading blue-chip clients. As a Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will oversee a team of Quantity Surveyors, managing all financial and contractual aspects of projects.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to lead our team and drive project success through strategic leadership and hands-on expertise. Key Responsibilities include:

  • Leadership & Team Management
    • Lead and mentor the Quantity Surveying team, fostering growth and excellence.
    • Allocate resources to ensure project deliverables are met efficiently.
    • Conduct performance reviews and identify training needs to enhance team capabilities.
  • Cost Management
    • Develop and manage cost plans, ensuring projects stay within budget.
    • Provide accurate financial reports, forecasts, and updates to senior management.
    • Maintain robust cost control throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Procurement & Contract Administration
    • Develop procurement strategies, manage tenders, and negotiate supplier contracts.
    • Ensure compliance with legal and company policies.
    • Manage contract variations, interim payments, and final accounts.
    • Identify and mitigate risks to ensure smooth project delivery.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Quality Assurance
    • Implement quality assurance procedures for cost and contract management.

You'll Bring:

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Significant experience in Quantity Surveying within construction or infrastructure.
  • Proven leadership in managing teams and large-scale projects from inception to completion.
  • Excellent financial acumen and negotiation skills.
  • Proficient in contract law and UK standard forms of contract.
  • Competent with relevant software (e.g., MS Office, CostX, CATO).
  • Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel as needed.
