Specialist Teaching Facility Assistant

We are currently recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to work within a Specialist Teaching Facility. Our partner school is based in a rural area and provides a purpose-built specialist facility to support children with autism.
The pupils in this school range from 11-19 years, all are on the autism spectrum with some children having severe or profound learning disabilities. The school has a caring and passionate group of staff and employs several STF teaching assistants who will be happy to support the successful candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and provide support for pupils, including those with additional learning needs (ALN), ensuring their safety and access to learning activities.
- Establish positive relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues.
- Promote the inclusion and acceptance of pupils.
- Encourage pupils to interact with others and engage in activities led by the teacher.
- Promote self-esteem and independence.
- Use strategies, in liaison with the teacher, to support pupils to achieve learning goals.
- Provide detailed and regular feedback to the teacher on pupils' progress.
- Assist with the supervision of pupils out of lesson times, including before and after school and at lunchtime.
Requirements
STF Teaching Assistants must:
- Have experience of working with children with autism and/or severe or profound learning disabilities.
- Have a confident and friendly personality.
- Possess resilience to overcome challenges.
- Remain calm in stressful situations.
- Demonstrate empathy and care for the children and young people they work with.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
