Health and Safety Role Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Health and Safety team at the William Jackson Food Group, a dedicated family-owned food business with a long-standing commitment to excellence. As a Health and Safety Coordinator, you will work closely with key stakeholders to provide administrative support to the Health and Safety Manager and contribute to the development of Health and Safety initiatives across all Wellocks sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure suitable and sufficient Risk Assessments and Standard Operating Procedures are kept up to date.
  • Monitor accident and incident rates, reporting and investigating incidents in a timely manner, and supporting managers with investigations and corrective actions.
  • Carry out Health and Safety audits at all sites, keeping trackers up to date and assisting Managers to close out corrective actions.
  • Monitor first aid supplies and order supplies as needed.
  • Order personal protective equipment.
  • Arrange Health Surveillance and Occupational Health appointments.

Procedures and Policies

  • Support the Health and Safety Manager in creating and implementing company procedures and processes, keeping procedures up to date.
  • Develop and facilitate toolbox talks on Health & Safety matters in conjunction with the Health and Safety Manager.

Training & Development

  • Assign and arrange training, keeping training matrix and plans up to date.
  • Conduct Health and Safety induction training for new employees.
  • Work with operational teams to improve the working environment and create a positive safety culture.
  • Facilitate and participate in the Health & Safety committee.

Requirements

  • IOSH Managing Safety or other Health and Safety industry recognised qualification.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Previous experience working in a Health and Safety role is desirable.
  • Ability to work on own initiative with minimum supervision.
  • Flexible, highly motivated, proactive, and 'can-do' working style.
  • Experience in operational procedures and best practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong decision making & problem solving skills.
