Support Professional for SEMH Needs

Role Overview
">We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Support Professional to join our Inclusion Team at a special school in Southend. As a key member of the team, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
">About the Role
">The successful candidate will work closely with students on a one-to-one basis, in small groups, and alongside classroom staff to develop strategies that encourage positive behaviour and emotional well-being. You will oversee the provision for pupils with SEMH needs across the school and collaborate with parents, carers, and external professionals to ensure comprehensive support for students.
">Key Responsibilities
">- Provision for Pupils with SEMH Needs: Oversee the provision for pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs across the school.
- Collaboration with Inclusion Team: Work closely with the Inclusion Team to implement and regularly assess provisions for named students, monitoring their needs and progress.
- Targeted Interventions: Proactively assess pupils and design targeted interventions to meet their specific needs.
- Support for Teachers and Classroom Staff: Support teachers and classroom staff with strategies to effectively address pupils' needs.
- Behaviour-Related Incidents: Respond to behaviour-related incidents and de-escalate situations as they arise.
- Collaboration with Parents and Carers: Collaborate with parents and carers to develop strategies that help pupils succeed in school.
- Relationships with External Agencies: Build relationships with external agencies and providers to coordinate additional support when necessary.
- Nurture Support Base Management: Manage and oversee the afternoon Nurture Support Base.
Requirements and Qualifications
">- Experience Working with SEMH Needs: Previous experience working with children or young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
- Behaviour Management Strategies: Strong understanding of behaviour management strategies and the ability to apply them effectively.
- Excellent Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- Able to Assess Student Needs: Ability to assess students' needs and develop tailored interventions.
- De-escalation of Behavioural Challenges: Experience in de-escalating challenging behaviour and managing behaviour-related incidents.
- Safeguarding Commitment: A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Patient, Resilient, and Passionate: Patience, resilience, and a passion for supporting young people in overcoming barriers to success.
