Role Overview


The Lead UI Software Engineer will provide strategic technical guidance on TP ICAP's flagship Fusion platform, overseeing the Fusion Platform UI team and setting engineering standards for UI Engineers across several teams. They will advocate for best practices in development and delivery, either through team collaboration or group sessions.


This role requires a passionate software developer who can leverage their technical expertise to mentor their team members, ensuring their success. The ideal candidate should be comfortable working in agile environments, fostering transparent communication, prioritizing quality, and driving results. As a hands-on leader with management responsibilities, they will primarily focus on software development while guiding their team.


Key Responsibilities



  • As the primary technical leader and developer on the Fusion UI team, they will demonstrate strong technical competencies and serve as a reliable high-value contributor within the team.
  • They will be an expert in modern UI Engineering using React, Typescript, JavaScript, and OO design principles.
  • They will provide technical oversight of analysis and design for assigned projects, designing, developing, testing, and overseeing production software solutions.
  • They must be able to communicate complex system architectures and principles to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • They will support the use of preferred planning and prioritization tooling (JIRA) to capture and track deliveries, identify issues, and contribute to roadmap and iteration planning and prioritization.
  • They will ensure the team follows a well-defined SDLC that supports planning, prioritization, and delivery needs.
  • They will assist the team in defining scope and estimating work to be done by leveraging previous experience.
  • They will be custodians for target state architecture and best practice within their respective development team and across the Fusion estate.
  • They will identify opportunities to evolve systems towards target state architecture and direct refactoring and prioritization to positively influence deliveries.

Leadership and Communication



  • They will work alongside Team Leaders to provide technical leadership and direction for the development team.
  • They will participate in retrospectives and seek opportunities to drive best practice.
  • They will lead the software team to deliver high-quality and innovative software solutions.
  • They will provide leadership and guidance to coach, motivate, and lead team members to their optimum performance levels and career development.

Change, Risk, and Issue Management



  • They will guide and support the team to identify and escalate risks as appropriate.
  • They will work with the Team Leaders to provide time and resource estimates, identify potential areas of risk, and suggest mitigating actions.
  • They will share complex technical designs or issues with non-technical stakeholders and influence their decision-making where necessary.
  • They will identify tools and methodologies to improve the effectiveness of the development process.
  • They will assist and facilitate prioritization of software defects and enhancements.
  • They will manage risks and issues effectively with timely escalation to the project stakeholders.

Experience and Competences


Essential:



  • Demonstrable experience in HTML5, React 16/17+, Typescript4/5+, JavaScript.
  • UI Libraries such as Material UI or Ant Design.
  • CSS pre-processors such as SASS and LESS.
  • Testing frameworks e.g. Jest.
  • Build tools such as Webpack.
  • Code quality and governance tools such as Sonarqube.
  • Responsive design and cross-browser compatibility.
  • Version control systems such as git i.e. gitlabs.
  • Agile development methodologies i.e. Scrum.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Estimated Salary: $120,000 - $180,000 per annum.
