  • Assisting with underwriting file reviews to ensure adherence to established principles and procedures.
  • Analyzing underwriting data to identify potential risk areas and recommending mitigating strategies.
  • Participating in the development and implementation of new product areas, including researching industry trends and staying current on relevant technical areas.
  • Preparing reports and presentations on underwriting performance and risk management activities.
  • Assisting with portfolio management and interacting with the wider Retail portfolio.
  • Leading, developing, and managing a team of underwriters, including imparting knowledge and expertise to support team development.
  • Underwriting high-profile and complex UK/Global accounts, complying with underwriting guidelines and strategies.
  • Acting as the escalation point for Global and Strategic partners, building relationships with brokers, clients, reinsurers, and market players to drive business growth and development.

You will report to the Head of International Casualty.

We're looking for someone with:

  • Extensive technical underwriting experience and broker management in Casualty.
  • Significant people management experience and effective team leadership skills.
  • Experience in portfolio management and data analytics.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to respond to a changing environment with flexibility and innovation.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including public speaking and presentation experience.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with customers, producers, and brokers.
  • Effective time management skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task.
