Job Title: Associate/Principal Geotechnical/Geo-Environmental Consultant

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Geotechnical/Geo-Environmental Consultant to join our team in Plymouth. As a key member of our Geo team, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating geotechnical and geo-environmental assignments, including desk studies, ground investigations, and risk assessments.

The Role:

As a Geotechnical/Geo-Environmental Consultant, you will be responsible for:

  • Managing and coordinating geotechnical and geo-environmental assignments, including desk studies, ground investigations, and risk assessments.
  • Acting as the focal point of contact with colleagues in the SW region, across the range of disciplines represented within Hydrock.
  • Contributing to work-winning and business development in the SW and representing Hydrock in client meetings.
  • Managing site investigation works in accordance with BS 5930 and 10175, ensuring health and safety compliance and accurate data collection.
  • Preparing high-quality factual reports covering environmental and geotechnical aspects, with clear interpretation supported by data.
  • Supporting colleagues in managing complex environmental or geotechnical aspects of projects.
  • Project managing own assignments with decreasing support over time, while assisting colleagues as needed.
  • Maintaining good project financial control, promptly addressing variations and ensuring client satisfaction.
  • Handling client queries professionally and promoting Hydrock's services effectively.
Key Responsibilities:

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in environmental science, geology, engineering, or a related field.
  • Sufficient and relevant experience, ideally gained in ground investigation, interpretation, and reporting.
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in geoenvironmental and geotechnical consultancy.
  • Working knowledge of relevant standards and regulations (BS 5930, 10175, etc.).
  • Proficient in project management, financial control, and client relationship management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • A proactive attitude towards professional development and business growth.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
