About the Role

The Academy of Social Sciences is seeking a highly motivated and organized Events and Content Officer to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in delivering a range of events, website content, and communications to raise awareness of the social sciences and their impact on society.

Key Responsibilities

  • Events Delivery
    • Research and coordinate events, including topics, speakers, and venues, both in-person and online.
    • Set up event registration and marketing materials, including drafting copy for promotional purposes.
    • Manage event administration, including liaison with IT and venue providers, producing registration lists and badges, and coordinating special requirements for participants.
    • Support event delivery on the day, both online and in-person, and assist with post-event communications, such as drafting summaries and social media posts.
  • Campaigns and Policy Delivery
    • Support the research and production of timely and relevant policy briefings, reports, and updates for the social sciences community, including policymakers, member learned societies, and higher education professionals.
    • Build relationships between the Academy and the wider social sciences community, including Fellows, working groups, and other stakeholders.
  • Communications Support
    • Assist with drafting, creating, and publishing a range of communications, including social media, emails, newsletters, and audio-visual materials.
    • Produce new content for the website to promote the social sciences.
    • Monitor the website for outdated content and broken links, and manage shared email accounts.
  • Administrative Support
    • Provide administrative support for the Forum for Leaders in Social Sciences.
    • Undertake research and other activities to support fundraising efforts.

Requirements

  • Experience in setting up and communicating events via various platforms, including Eventbrite, Zoom, and email marketing platforms.
  • Ability to analyze information and communicate findings to a range of audiences.
  • Strong writing skills and experience in drafting succinct summaries.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicate through various media and channels.
  • Aptitude for working independently and meeting deadlines, with a strong attention to detail.

Working Arrangements

The Academy is a virtual organization, and this role will be based from home. However, there may be occasional requirements to travel to events across the UK. The successful candidate will be comfortable working from home and living within easy reach of London to attend meetings in person.
