Job Title: Switchboard Operator

We are seeking a skilled Switchboard Operator to join our team at Kootenay Lake Regional Hospital in Nelson, B.C.

About the Role:

This is a Casual opportunity, which means there are no guaranteed hours and work requirements can vary from 0 - 37.5 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate the switchboard and public address system, and other paging device systems.
  • Receive and direct patients and visitors.
  • Respond to and monitor hospital alarms and emergency codes.
  • Maintain physician on-call/vacation lists and other hospital staff.
  • Perform patient registration and admitting clerical duties, including bed booking options.
  • Handle cashier duties, including receiving payments, recording payments in cash journals and/or summary sheets, and issuing change and receipts.
  • Receive, check, and deposit patient valuables for safekeeping.
Requirements:
  • Confirmation of completion of Grade 12.
  • A current Typing Test of 45 wpm or greater completed within past 48 months from a recognized institution.
  • Your Resume indicating one year's recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • A Cover Letter stating your availability.
