Electronics Test and Repair Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Electronics Test and Repair Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our hardware support team, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise in the diagnosis and repair of complex electronic systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support to 1st line teams in fault diagnosis and repair of electronic systems.
  • Undertake testing and repairs to electronic circuit boards and equipment.
  • Maintain an off-line simulation system to enable testing of equipment in support of new software builds and equipment.
  • Diagnose and support network communication issues in Ethernet and Serial RS232 using copper and fibre technology.
  • Create new circuit boards when required to maintain a healthy stock level.
  • Undertake projects which will enhance our current systems using prototyping skills and PCB CAD design.
  • Collate, maintain, and action a hardware defect database and maintaining a MTBF log of equipment.
  • React to customer enquiries and generate reports with supporting evidence if requested.

Requirements:

  • HND or equivalent in electronics or other engineering related subject with electronic fault diagnostic experience.
  • Excellent test and repair to component level skills of complex microprocessor, analogue and digital PCBs.
  • First class soldering, prototyping and PCB re-work skills.
  • Proven fault-finding and diagnostic abilities in complex electronic assemblies.
  • Experience with CAD packages an advantage.
  • Good level of computer literacy.
  • Command line use of Windows and/or Linux.
  • Use of version control software.
