Lancashire County Council is expanding its workforce with passionate, skilled individuals who can help deliver the best possible support for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), as well as those in alternative provision, and their families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the commissioning of services specifically for children and young people with SEND.
  • Ensure that high-quality, cost-effective services are delivered to meet the diverse needs of children and young people in Lancashire.
  • Support, motivate, and challenge to ensure the best possible outcomes for children and young people with SEND.
  • Undertake commissioning activities that support the vision and priorities of Lancashire County Council to meet the identified needs of the children and young people with SEND.
  • Monitor and support commissioned SEND services to meet contract requirements with a focus on quality and performance.

Requirements:

  • Knowledgeable and has an understanding of commissioning/procurement processes and procedures in the public sector.
  • Capable of informing service planning and development.
  • Support and embed a culture of co-production and partnership working.
  • Develop close working relationships with NHS partners, schools, and other key stakeholders including the Lancashire Parent Carer Forum and children and young people's participation networks.
