The Role

The Mechanical Draughtsman is responsible for producing a high standard of general arrangements and layout drawings to standard engineering practice, detailed drawings for manufacture, including producing detailed material profiles for CNC laser cutting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Producing high-quality 2D detailed drawings to enable engineering tradespersons to manufacture machined and fabricated parts.
  • Interpreting contract documentation and specifications ensuring that technical drawings are produced in accordance with industry regulations and project specifications.
  • Taking part in production/project review meetings to ensure timescales are adhered to.
  • Liaising with sales, project teams, and management.
  • Meeting and improving costs where applicable and feasible using recognized cost analysis methods.

Requirements

  • A mechanical engineering qualification or demonstrable experience.
  • A sound knowledge of fabricating, welding, and machining processes.
  • A good understanding of materials handling equipment, from both technical and manufacturing aspects.
  • Excellent 2D (essential) & 3D (desirable) draughting skills.
  • The ability to interpret P&ID drawings would be advantageous.
