We are seeking a highly skilled Orthopaedic Surgeon to join our team at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in general Orthopaedics and Trauma, as well as higher surgical training in Orthopaedics to FRCS (T& O) level or equivalent.

The salary for this role is estimated to be around £110,000 - £140,000 per annum, depending on experience. This is a permanent position based in the stunning Lake District region, offering a great work-life balance and opportunities for professional development.

About the Role:

This Consultant post will involve working as part of our busy Orthopaedic Team at Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), a level-two trauma centre. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality care to patients with complex lower limb fractures, including those requiring surgical treatment. The post holder will also be expected to contribute to teaching and training of junior medical staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting consultant-led orthopaedic on-calls in a level-two trauma centre
  • Surgical management of complex lower limb fractures, including those involving the hip and knee
  • Contributing to the development of new surgical techniques and treatments
  • Teaching and training of junior medical staff

Person Specification:

  • FRCR (T&O) or equivalent higher orthopaedic surgical qualification
  • Entry on GMC Specialist Register in Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery or eligibility for specialist registration within 6 months from the time of interview
  • Recognised Fellowship in lower limb surgery
  • Experience of working in different hospitals within the NHS
