At BNY, we're seeking a highly skilled European Tax Director to join our EMEA Tax Department. As a key member of our team, you'll play a vital role in providing direct tax advice and support for international business transactions across the region.

This exciting opportunity is perfect for someone with a strong background in tax law and experience working with multinational companies. You'll have the chance to work closely with our Corporate Tax team in London and the US, as well as central and regional Finance teams, to drive tax efficiencies and implement our global tax strategy.

The successful candidate will report to the EMEA Head of Tax and be responsible for:

  • Partnering with the business to provide accurate direct tax advice and support for M&A, corporate restructurings, new products, and markets;
  • Identifying opportunities for increased tax efficiencies and implementing them;
  • Advising on cross-border financing, including intercompany loans and internal funding, as well as supporting corporate withholding tax matters and dividend processes;
  • Reviewing and negotiating tax rulings and clearances as needed to implement BNY's global tax strategy;
  • Managing external advisors, colleagues, and tax authorities to resolve continental European tax issues and disputes;
  • Leading tax-related discussions, negotiations, and representations with Tax Authorities, Government representatives, and Regulators in EMEA;
  • Ensuring the business and wider tax department are up-to-date with changes in international tax legislation through attendance at industry/lobbying forums and developing strong relationships with external advisors;
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with external advisers, key contacts in the lines of business, European Bank management, and business partner groups within BNYM across multiple jurisdictions.
