At Terry Parris Associates, we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Technician to join our team. As a key member of our technical team, you will play a crucial role in the development of our client's products.
About the Role:The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, laying out, assembling, and modifying test equipment by reading and interpreting engineering drawings and sketches. You will assist Test Engineers in the operation of the test equipment to obtain performance data and work to resolve problems such as equipment issues and malfunctions with a focus on electrical installations, circuits, and power distribution systems.
Key Responsibilities:- Drafting electrical installation plans and technical diagrams.
- Installing, maintaining, modifying, and repairing all electrical systems on all test stand platforms.
- Ensuring that electrical systems adhere to national electrical safety standards and regulations.
- Supervising ongoing electrical system installations and providing technical expertise to installation teams where needed.
- Using schematic, wiring diagrams, and manufacturers' installation drawings to complete projects.
- Completing work orders and recording materials used on the job for future tasks.
- Identifying electrical problems and repairing them.
- Advising management on replacing aged electrical equipment to prevent hazards.
- Conducting general electrical systems maintenance (TPM) and troubleshooting electrical issues with testing equipment.
- Experience of lab or industrial environments, including safety procedures.
- Experience and understanding of electrical installations and power distribution units.
- Experience of completing mechanical and/or electrical works on equipment or systems in line with engineering documentation.
- HNC level in Electrical Engineering or similar.
- Mechanical and electrical fitting skills.
- Competent user of MS Office packages.
- Ability to read diagrams and schematics (ideally electrical, electronic, and P&ID).
- Enthusiasm and drive to deliver on time.
- Organized and methodical.
- Effective communicator, with ability to problem solve.
- Practical working knowledge of sensors, actuators, instrumentation, wiring, and control systems.
- Experience of working in a product development or research environment.
- Industrial wiring, e.g., contactors, breakers, 3-Phase, and 24v systems.
- Design of electrical circuits and power distribution systems.
- BS 7671 IET Wiring Regulation qualified.
- Experience of single and 3-phase power systems and high voltage systems.
- Ability to produce diagrams and schematics (ideally electrical, electronic, and P&ID).
