Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Fire Safety Manager to join our team at NHS Jobs. As a key member of our Fire Safety team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety of our patients, staff, and visitors.

Main Responsibilities
  • Deputise for Fire Safety Manager: Provide cover for the Fire Safety Manager in their absence, ensuring continuity of fire safety management.
  • Assist with Fire Safety Management: Collaborate with the Fire Safety Manager to manage fire safety across our sites, including conducting fire risk assessments and audits.
  • Support Site Directors: Work closely with Site Directors to ensure fire safety is integrated into their management plans and policies.
  • Review Fire Policies and Documentation: Assist with the review and development of fire policies and procedures, including leading on some policies and protocols.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of fire safety activities, including fire risk assessments and audits.
  • Compliance: Ensure that all fire safety activities are carried out in accordance with relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Training and Development: Provide training and support to staff on fire safety procedures and protocols, in line with the Training Needs Analysis (TNA).
  • Visual Condition Surveys: Conduct visual condition surveys to identify potential fire safety hazards, including fire door inspections.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Experience in fire safety management, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Strong knowledge of fire safety legislation and regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • High level of organizational and time management skills.
