Universal Business Team is seeking a skilled Financial Operations Manager to lead the financial operations of our fast-growing company. As a dynamic SME specialising in bespoke educational furniture, we are looking for a finance professional to join our expanding team.
The Role:
The Financial Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day financial processes and helping the business scale effectively as it grows. You will have full ownership of the finance function and will be a key player in ensuring financial operations run smoothly and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the end-to-end financial operations within Sage 50, including the purchase ledger, sales ledger, payments, and invoicing.
- Ensure compliance with CIS regulations, working with Cox and Co for invoice verification.
- Oversee reconciliations for multiple accounts, including current, savings, and credit cards.
- Manage VAT audits and submissions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with HMRC.
- Responsible for mid-month and end-of-month purchase ledger payments, BACS payments, and credit card payment processes.
- Produce monthly management accounts, weekly project costing reports, and cash flow forecasts.
- Manage credit control, including debt chasing, credit checks, and retention processing.
- Prepare and post CIS and PAYE journal entries within Sage, managing monthly payments to HMRC.
- Manage timely and accurate applications for payment within Sage to support monthly accounts.
Requirements:
- Demonstrable experience in a Finance Manager or similar role, ideally within an SME environment. Knowledge of subcontractor/CIS invoicing is desirable.
- Highly proficient in Sage 50 and capable of managing a broad range of financial tasks using the software.
- Strong attention to detail, particularly when it comes to reconciling statements and processing payments.
- Able to manage growing demands within the finance department, with the business committed to bringing in additional support as the company scales.
- Capable of working effectively with internal departments and external stakeholders, ensuring seamless financial operations.
