Job Title: Quality Engineer

Join our team at Shorterm Group as a Quality Engineer and contribute to the success of our global leader in Rolling Stock vehicle manufacturing, service, and maintenance.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Quality Engineer to perform inspections, manage problem-solving, and record inspection results. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in a quality/manufacturing environment, a strong understanding of APQP, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform inspections of products, including customer joint inspections
  • Manage problem-solving and record inspection results
  • Develop specifications in partnership with outside tooling/equipment/material manufacturers
  • Coordinate the receipt, response, and monitoring of concerns raised at the customer
  • Carry out technical investigations into performance, equipment design, planning methods, layout proposals, labor requirements, equipment capability to maintain quality and cost
  • Support manufacturing teams regarding self-inspection, delegation of control, and position quality animation
  • Provide technical support to production staff
Requirements:
  • Strong experience in a quality/manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of APQP
  • Good knowledge of problem-solving tools and product specification
  • Strong background in practical problem-solving and root cause analysis
  • Previous experience in coordinating small teams
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Qualifications:
  • Degree qualified or apprenticeship to HNC level supported by strong practical experience
