Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Senior Health Specialist to join our team in Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust. As a Specialist Nurse in sexual health for Learning Disabilities, you will play a vital role in improving access to sexual health services for individuals with learning disabilities (PWLD).

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work with a dedicated team providing specialized care to vulnerable populations. You will be responsible for bridging gaps in sexual health advice, information, and clinical services for PWLD and their carers. Your expertise will help establish seamless pathways between sexual health services and statutory, voluntary, and primary care services.

Main Duties
  • Improve access to sexual health services for PWLD and their carers by providing free condoms, lube, and access to C-Card for young people.
  • Support health, social, and VCS networks to identify PWLD, make reasonable service adjustments, assess sexual health needs, and refer to appropriate support services.
  • Develop and implement public health and health promotion activities, including own clinical work, work of the team, and local community efforts.
  • Participate in clinical and educational outreach, contribute to health promotion activity, and develop new services.
Person Specification

To succeed in this role, you will require:

  • ORGN (NMC Sub-part 1 Adult branch) qualification.
  • University certificate or equivalent in Sexual Health training.
  • Degree in Reproductive Health or equivalent recognized training.
  • Independent Nurse Prescriber or willingness to train.
  • Evidence of continuing professional and personal development.

You will also need:

  • Experience working in Sexual Health, preferably with PWLD.
  • Ability to work autonomously and seek support as needed.
  • Clear vision and understanding of quality standards and working with PWLD.
  • Teaching and presentation skills, proficient IT skills, and excellent writing skills.

As a Specialist Nurse in sexual health for Learning Disabilities, you will have the opportunity to motivate, manage, and lead staff, and develop your leadership skills.

Salary

The estimated salary for this position is £43,141 - £70,718 per annum, depending on experience.
