Join The Wall Street Journal as an Audience Strategist and help shape the future of our international news coverage.

As an Audience Strategist, you will work closely with our editorial leadership team to develop a dual-focused audience strategy: keeping our subscribers engaged and reaching new audiences.

You will champion the use of data and analytics in the newsroom, translating data into actionable insights and preparing statistical reports to monitor and meet key performance indicators.

Additionally, you will lead training on digital best practices and how to use data to inform coverage decisions, and work closely with our social and SEO team to monitor topics of interest and help editors plan coverage accordingly.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing audience strategy to engage subscribers and reach new audiences
  • Championing the use of data and analytics in the newsroom
  • Leading training on digital best practices and data-driven decision making
  • Collaborating with social and SEO team to monitor topics of interest and plan coverage
  • Shaping the format of our journalism to tell stories in the most impactful way

Requirements:

  • 7+ years digital newsroom experience, including some combination of newsroom strategy, editing, production, or digital project management
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to find insights from data and deliver a plan to address findings
  • Data skills and experience using tools for web analytics
  • Strong understanding of and interest in the competitive landscape for digital news media
  • Track record of developing strong relationships, collaborating, and building consensus
  • Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and persuasively
