Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Costs Specialist to join our team at Slater Gordon. As a Technical Lead, you will play a key role in advising on complex legal technical issues and cost disputes, drafting legal documents, and managing the development of team members.

About the Role:

  • Advise on complex legal technical issues and cost disputes to clients, colleagues, and senior management.
  • Draft legal documents specific to Cost Litigation, including skeleton arguments, Points of Dispute and Reply, witness statements, applications, and draft orders.
  • Prepare and present a comprehensive training schedule for the Costs Litigation department, Specialist Serious Personal Injury teams, and the wider practice group.
  • Manage and support the development of team members, promoting continuous learning and improvement of skills.
  • Assist the Practice Development Lead in preparing and implementing the Cost Litigation strategy.
  • Attend Detailed Assessment Hearings, Oral Hearings, CCMCs, and Cost Applications.

About You:

  • High degree of technical expertise in costs litigation.
  • Proven track record in an advocacy role.
  • Ability to develop strong and effective relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Hands-on, with a 'can-do' attitude, demonstrating drive, discipline, patience, and flexibility.
  • High degree of accuracy, excellent analytical skills, and strong attention to detail, but capable of identifying and resolving wider issues.
  • Well-organized with an ability to prioritize and manage conflicting demands effectively.
  • Clear and influential communicator, able to address different types of audiences in appropriate ways, both written and verbal.
  • Genuine enthusiasm for providing a high standard of client service and an ability to promote a positive attitude.
