Cyber Security Specialist

Denholm Associates is seeking a highly skilled Security Operations Engineer to join our team on a permanent basis. This is a hybrid working role, with 2 days per week in our Edinburgh office.
The Security Operations Engineer plays a critical role in the Security Operations team, responsible for the support and optimization of our Security Operations platform. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to innovative projects designing security controls and delivering emerging security technologies.
Reporting to the Cyber Security Engineering Manager, you will help deliver improvements across various cyber security domains, including:
- Security Data & Analytics
- Security Automation
You will work closely with our Cyber Security Operation Centre, other security functions, specialist 3rd party security suppliers, and the global IT and business teams.
As part of the Cyber Security Operations team, this role will support:
- Security Platform Optimisation, covering endpoint, network, cloud, and logging technologies
- Security Orchestration Automation and Response, building security automation playbooks and integrations
- Security Data & Analytics, onboarding data and developing detection logic and analytics
Demonstrable experience working in cyber security is essential, with a strong background in supporting security tools, such as SOAR, SIEM, EDR, NGFW, CSPM, WAF, and AV. Experience working in a hybrid (on-prem/multi-cloud) environment is also required. Knowledge of one or more scripting languages, with experience in developing automation playbooks, scripts that interact with APIs, and parsers for data engines, is necessary. A passion for security and self-development to keep up to date with the evolving threat and vulnerability landscape, new technologies, and service improvements is essential.
