About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Design Engineer to join our team at JCB. As a key member of our Group Electrics & Controls Excavator team, you will play a critical role in delivering electrical and electronic engineering solutions across the business.

Reporting to the Lead EDS Engineer, you will work closely with diverse teams to ensure delivery of product excellence. Your technical expertise and hands-on experience will be essential in driving the development and deployment of new electrical and electronic systems into our Excavator product range.

Your Responsibilities
  1. Translate customer requirements into clear and concise deliverables.
  2. Select the most suitable hardware platforms to meet technical and environmental targets.
  3. Develop prototype solutions to validate proof of concept ideas in a fast-paced agile environment.
  4. Create drawing release plans to meet project timing and requirements.
  5. Coordinate with 3rd party vendors for new component releases.
  6. Ensure design for manufacture and assembly considerations.
  7. Work with industry-standard development techniques, including harness routing and clipping.
  8. Support build coordination, ensuring latest design revisions are reviewed promptly.
  9. Maintain accurate records of designs, revisions, and updates.
  10. Drive component re-use and support cause-and-effect analysis.
About You

We are looking for a qualified individual with a HND/Degree in an electronic/software-based technology discipline or equivalent experience. Your background in Tier 1 or OE sectors, with CAD experience, is essential. Additionally, you should have experience with ECN release and checking, Siemens Teamcentre, and electrical design tools like Zuken.

You will be comfortable working with electronic lab tools, serial tools, and over-the-air diagnostics. A good understanding of design verification processes and the ability to read and digest complex information are also required.
