About the Role

Cumberland Council is seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our Learning Support Service (LSS) as a Teaching Assistant. This role is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children's education and well-being.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality learning and skills support to children, ensuring their individual needs are met.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to children, promoting their social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Assist with the supervision of children during lessons and activities, ensuring their safety and engagement.
  • Contribute to the development of a positive and inclusive learning environment, promoting diversity and equality.
Requirements
  • Recent experience of working with children in an educational setting.
  • Awareness of practices and procedures within education relating to the welfare, safety, and education of children.
  • Basic understanding of child development and learning.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate with children, parents, and colleagues.
  • Desirable to have knowledge of other services to young people and experience of using ICT to support learning.
