About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Specialist Occupational Therapy Support Worker to join our team in the Carmarthenshire Older Adult Mental Health Assessment Ward at Prince Philip Hospital.
The successful candidate will work within a multi-disciplinary team, supporting the ward Occupational Therapist in delivering a high-quality service to ensure the experience of patients on the ward is enriched through the use of meaningful occupation.
The ideal candidate will have experience of working with Older Adults and a particular interest in Older Adult Mental Health. They will have a good command of the English language and basic maths skills, as well as NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in relation to health and social care.
The post holder will be required to work with clients who have dementia, including younger dementia sufferers and those older people living with functional mental illness with increased complexity. They will work in partnership with carers/family members and services in the community to promote independence, health, wellbeing, and safety.
Main Responsibilities
- Undertake simple occupationally focussed assessments and deliver a variety of Occupational Therapy therapeutic interventions.
- Use creative skills to provide a flexible, person-centred programme of meaningful activities for individuals/groups of patients, aimed at restoring and maintaining functional ability.
- Work effectively with a team to achieve good patient experiences and outcomes to support multi-disciplinary care and discharge planning to enable the person to live well.
