Consultant in Cornea and Emergency Eye Care

Aneurin Bevan University Health Board invites applications for a Consultant in Cornea and Emergency Eye Care position. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing medical and surgical management of corneal diseases and developing strategies to improve patient care.

This is an excellent opportunity for a highly skilled and motivated individual who is passionate about delivering high-quality eye care. As a key member of our ophthalmology department, you will work closely with our multidisciplinary team to develop and implement clinical governance policies and procedures. Your expertise in complex outpatient clinics and specialist surgical management will enable us to deliver exceptional patient care.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of clinical governance, leadership, and teaching principles. Excellent communication skills are essential, as you will work effectively with a diverse range of staff, including trainees, associate specialists, optometrists, and nurse practitioners. A competitive salary of £100,000 - £140,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package, including pension scheme, health insurance, and extensive training opportunities, awaits the successful candidate.

Salary: £110,000 - £130,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide medical and surgical management of corneal diseases
- Conduct complex outpatient clinics and specialist surgical procedures
- Develop and implement clinical governance policies and procedures
- Lead and manage a team of healthcare professionals
- Deliver teaching and training programs to junior staff

Requirements:
- GMC registration and a licence to practice
- Specialist Register or CCT/CESR within 6 months of interview
