Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Second Engineer to join our team at Sentinel Marine Ltd. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our vessels.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assume responsibility for engine room operations in the absence of the Chief Engineer, ensuring compliance with international standards and company regulations.
  • Manage and maintain the Planned Maintenance System (PMS) on board, as instructed by the Chief Engineer.
  • Stand engine room watch as per agreed watch rotation, ensuring safe and efficient watch keeping practices.
  • Ensure that either the Second Engineer or the Chief Engineer is on board at all times, and that they are aware when the Chief Engineer is away from the vessel.
  • Assist with the loading and discharging of fuel oil, lubricating oil, water, and liquid cargo, as delegated by the Chief Engineer.
  • Assist with the maintenance of records of fuel, potable water, and lubricants remaining on board.
  • Maintain accurately the engine room Log Book, Oil Record Book, and other departmental records.
  • Prepare a handover report for the relieving Second Engineer and discuss details.
  • Execute measures to prevent and/or reduce pollution to the environment.
Requirements
  • Medical fitness and competence in accordance with international standards.
  • Qualification in accordance with S.T.C.W. or other pertinent regulations.
  • Full conversance with the Ship's Management System (S.M.S.).
