GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support students with special educational needs in a bespoke residential setting.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students to provide emotional and academic support, facilitating their access to education. This includes breaking down learning tasks, implementing strategies and behavior plans, and applying therapeutic techniques.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain supportive relationships with students to assist them academically and emotionally.
  • Exemplify professionalism through appropriate dress, punctuality, and reliable attendance.
  • Advocate for student welfare and adhere to safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure child safety.
  • Support students in adhering to their behavior plans and strategies.
  • Take proactive measures to address Health and Safety concerns.
  • Communicate effectively with the Senior Leadership Team, staff, parents, and external agencies as needed.
  • Keep detailed and accurate student records updated.
  • Utilize initiative and creativity to address and resolve issues effectively.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with special educational needs, particularly those with autism or social and emotional needs.
  • Knowledge of and experience with behavior management strategies.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate effectively with parents and other professionals.
  • A patient and nurturing approach to working with children.
  • Ability to adapt and be flexible in a fast-paced and changing environment.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development in SEN practices and strategies.
  • Possession of a full UK driving license is desirable.
