Job Description

Job Title: Production Shift Manager

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Production Shift Manager to lead our night operations team in a fast-paced FMCG environment. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for ensuring efficiency and productivity during night operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and supervise the activities of production staff and additional functions
  • Oversee day-to-day operations within operations, goods in/despatch, planning, and asset care
  • Manage and motivate teams to ensure daily production and KPIs are achieved, and implement plans to improve performance using Continuous Improvement techniques
  • Promote a good health and safety culture
  • Prepare reports and present to management and senior leadership teams
  • Ensure all staff are compliant with production of consistently high-quality products
  • Oversee recruitment and training of new staff
  • Play an active part in driving Continuous Improvement projects and initiatives with teams, including PIP plans and Operational Excellence
  • Support and coach teams to implement operational excellence, including daily meetings, huddles, visual boards, and other initiatives
  • Ensure staff are compliant with safety issues, including follow-up on non-compliant issues, incident reports, non-conformances, and Root Cause Analyses
  • Carry out investigations and disciplinaries, following company procedures
  • Develop and maintain positive relations with internal and external customers
  • Conduct gap analysis, skills development, and training plans, and maintain skill matrices

Requirements:

  • A strong understanding of manufacturing industry practices and procedures
  • Proven experience in managing teams in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the FMCG sector
  • Strong technical skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to work night shifts and manage a team effectively during these hours
