Job Title: VP of Infrastructure and Transition Due Diligence
At Brookfield Asset Management, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our Diligence Management team as a VP of Infrastructure and Transition Due Diligence. This role will play a pivotal part in leading all aspects of the due diligence process for our infrastructure and transition funds, partnering directly with prospective investors, CRMs, and other stakeholders.
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the initial creation of diligence materials prior to fund launch, leading all diligence activity during fundraising, and managing client calls, meetings, asset tours, and on-sites to advance investor due diligence processes. This includes:
- Responsible for oversight and quality control across all due diligence deliverables necessary to advance clients during fundraising, including DDQs, RFPs, RFIs, quantitative datasets, IDD/ODD presentations, etc.
- Managing their team through all stages of the employee lifecycle, including recruitment, learning and development, on-the-job training and support, performance management, and compensation.
- Establishing strong relationships with stakeholders to ensure the team can successfully respond to investor diligence requests, especially the investor relations team and investment professionals as well as Fundraise Management and CRM team.
- Planning and overseeing interactions between prospective investors and investment teams or other subject matter experts (tax, legal, operational, etc.) as part of fund due diligence, including leading calls, meetings, asset tours, arranging on-sites, due diligence days, etc.
- Working directly with clients and CRMs to design individual diligence plans and tracking and reporting on all due diligence activities, both internally and to clients.
- Overseeing the initial creation of due diligence materials prior to fund launch (standard DDQs, investor presentations, PPMs, case studies, quantitative datasets, etc.).
- Building a thorough understanding of the firm's infrastructure and transition funds, investment strategies, and portfolio as well as its corporate setup, history, operations to facilitate the accurate and consistent creation of diligence content.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the infrastructure and transition asset classes, private funds, and due diligence processes. They will also possess excellent technical knowledge, verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work under tight deadlines while maintaining a high standard. Additionally, they will have experience in leading a team, managing timelines, resources, and stakeholders across multiple projects simultaneously, and working in a global environment with stakeholders across numerous jurisdictions and time zones.
Responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing due diligence strategies and plans.
- Managing and coordinating due diligence activities, including data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including investment professionals, tax, legal, and operational experts.
- Providing guidance and support to junior team members.
- Staying up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements.
Requirements include:
- Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, business management, marketing, communications, or other relevant discipline.
- 10-12+ years of experience working with private funds in the infrastructure, transition, renewable, and/or impact asset classes, focusing on marketing, due diligence, sales, client services, or other fundraising or client function.
- Familiarity with investment products and services, including a strong understanding of the infrastructure, transition, renewable, and/or impact asset classes and investment strategies.
- Experience leading a team with numerous direct reports.
- Strong project management skills, with experience in managing timelines, resources, and stakeholders across multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience in high-volume processes and technology-enabled solutions.
Key competencies/behaviors required include:
- Excellent technical knowledge and familiarity with the infrastructure, transition, renewable, and/or impact asset classes and private funds generally.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail in written materials and quantitative data is crucial.
- Strong understanding of due diligence processes, with project management skills and the ability to work under tight deadlines while maintaining a high standard.
- Must work well in a team environment, excellent interpersonal skills to engage senior professionals and liaise with global teams across the firm.
- Experience in relevant software tools or equivalents is a plus (Salesforce, Loopio, PowerBI, Mercatus, Seismic).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills.
- Strong relationship management skills across multiple countries, being able to flex communication style to diverse geographies and investors.
- Shares information with team members in a clear and concise manner.
- Proactively seeks opportunities to get involved in more challenging projects.
- Ability to multi-task and work in a very fast-paced and team-oriented environment.
