Newtownabbey, United Kingdom East Riding of Yorkshire Council Full time

Riverside School is an over-subscribed community day special school catering for children aged 2 – 19 years. With a transformed building and extended facilities, we now have a dedicated EYFS provision and Sixth Form department. Our school has developed outdoor facilities for animal care, horticulture, and STEM activities.

We aim to engage pupils while developing their basic skills (Literacy and Numeracy) as well as social and life skills. You would be joining a happy and successful school with a range of opportunities.

The successful candidate will support teachers and pupils in all aspects of school life. This involves providing whole class, small group and one to one support to encourage and develop skills so children can achieve full participation in learning activities.

To start as soon as possible, we are seeking friendly and caring people who can establish positive working relationships with children and adults. A good standard of general education including Maths and English is essential. Experience with children with SEND is advantageous.

We expect all staff to share the school's commitment of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults. A good level of personal fitness and being in good health are necessary to engage with our students.

We can offer:

  • A supportive work environment with excellent facilities within a modern building.
  • The opportunity to join our school and be supported by a class teacher as mentor.
  • A commitment to a wide range of professional development.

Our salary for this position is £25,542 - £35,270 per annum, dependent on experience. We actively encourage visits to the school during term time.
