NPL is seeking an experienced Cyber Security Engineer to join the team responsible for maintaining and implementing technical controls across the organisation. The successful candidate will contribute to operational support, project delivery, and Security Operations Centre (SOC) activities, ensuring system vulnerabilities are addressed through effective patch and lifecycle management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Security Alert Management: Review and act upon security alerts generated by tooling to ensure timely and effective response.
  • Threat Monitoring: Continuously monitor the environment for potential threats, vulnerabilities, and indicators of compromise to maintain a secure posture.
  • Team Support: Act as an escalation point for other members of the security team, providing assistance and mentoring where necessary to ensure seamless collaboration.
  • Procedure Development: Contribute to the development of SOC procedures and documentation to ensure consistency and effectiveness.
  • Remediation Activities: Assist with remediation activities to address identified security vulnerabilities and maintain a secure environment.
  • Threat Intelligence: Understand and apply Threat Intelligence to inform security decisions and improve the organisation's security posture.
  • Automation Workflows: Produce new workflows for automation tools to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

Requirements:

  • Ability to commute to the UKTL offices in Birmingham at least twice a week.
  • Flexibility to work in a hybrid environment with a mix of remote and office working.
