Job Title: Component Engineer

Mercury Systems International is a leading provider of complex high-performance safety and mission-critical avionics and defense computers. As a Component Engineer, you will play a critical role in supporting our Quality team in a dynamic and challenging environment.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Component Engineer to provide full component engineering expertise and support to our International Design and In-service teams. The successful candidate will lead technical analysis to support customers and solve complex technical issues. You will also be responsible for supporting Return Merchandise Authorizations (RMAs) and ensuring the quality of our products.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Component Engineering Scope:
    • Perform Bill of Materials (BOM) gate reviews to ensure accuracy and completeness.
    • Manage supplier notifications for Product Design Notification (PDN) and Product Change Notification (PCN) to ensure compliance with industry standards.
    • Develop and implement obsolescence resolution strategies to minimize disruptions to our customers.
    • Implement counterfeit prevention measures to ensure the integrity of our components.
    • Ensure compliance with export control regulations and manage customer reporting requirements.
    • Provide component selection support to engineering teams and validate new components for use in our products.
  • In-Service Support:
    • Serve as the first point of contact for customer RMAs and drive the resolution process with our Quality teams.
    • Establish and maintain support documents required by our projects to ensure seamless execution.
    • Act as a key technical expert on legacy products and provide guidance to our teams.
    • Develop procedures for rework at customer sites and ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Support to Production:
    • Collaborate with production test technicians to resolve issues encountered during testing.
    • Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions to improve yield and reduce defects.
  • Root Cause Analysis:
    • Conduct inspections and troubleshooting of defective products or subparts to identify root causes.
    • Synchronize root cause analysis activities with methods or engineering teams to ensure effective problem-solving.
    • Provide feedback to Engineering teams for lessons learned and process improvements.
    • Participate in the Quality Clinic to address customer issues and RMAs.
  • KPI Responsibility: In-service:
    • Monitor and report on customer claims, deviations, and other issues.
    • Track and improve customer audit scores.
    • Manage RMAs (in and out of warranty) and ensure timely resolution.
    • Contribute to quote profitability by providing accurate and timely support.
Requirements:
  • Education: University degree in science or engineering (BA/BS) or higher.
  • Experience: At least 2 years' experience in electronics manufacturing or repair, preferably in the Aviation, Space, and Defense (ASD) industry.
  • Language Skills: English spoken and written.
  • Certifications: EASA Part 145 Certifying Staff Member (when authorized).
  • Component Maintenance Experience: Minimum of 6 months relevant component maintenance experience in any consecutive 2-year period.
  • Aircraft Maintenance License: Possession of an appropriate aircraft maintenance license or a personal authorization that is valid for the period that the certification authorization to be issued.
  • Understanding of Components: Adequate understanding of the relevant components to be maintained together with the associated organization procedures.
