Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Safety Engineering Lead to join our team at Kdc Resource. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing Systems Safety & Environmental capability to the Aerospace and Defence industries, with a focus on marine experience.

Your primary objective will be to work closely with our customers to determine the scope of work and skills required to deliver against customer schedules. This will involve identifying tasks from the customer Level 0 plan and determining the KDC scope of work, as well as reporting progress to the same.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Safety Engineering analysis and decomposition of Major System level Functional Safety and Local Hazard to the Individual (LHI) / Physical Hazards Safety requirements.
  • Approve (Product Safety aspects of) Technical Specifications, and System Design Descriptions.
  • Adhere to and meet the customer Safety Management Plan.
  • Work with customer engineers and Major Systems Suppliers to analyse hazards associated with the given domain and develop the necessary design solutions to mitigate them or confirm gap analysis and determine Residual Risk for Technical Authority review.
  • Produce hazard logs and safety cases in accordance with DEF STAN 00-056 to meet the regulatory requirements of DSA02.
  • Prepare Safety and Environmental Working Group Reports IAW MOD Information Management Policy (JSP 441).
  • Produce Declarations of Conformity.

Additional Requirements:

  • SC Clearance is essential, deployment to customer (and associated customer development) may be part of the role.
  • Willingness to travel to the customers and supply chain, primarily within the UK.

  • Flexibility in working hours as necessary, while adhering to strict regulatory guidance.
  • Internal and external liaison will be a significant element of this role, including across customer stakeholders to ensure a robust solution is provided.
