About the Role:

The Direct Support Professional will be responsible for delivering care and support services to children and youth with intellectual disabilities in foster homes, adhering to St.Amant's Mission and Values, provincial legislation, and regulations.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Provide personalized support and assistance to individuals in daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and household management.
  2. Collaborate with the Foster Care Facilitator to develop and implement individualized service plans, monitoring progress and making adjustments as needed.
  3. Engage individuals in meaningful activities, promoting independence and community integration.
  4. Respond to crisis situations using Non-Violent Crisis Intervention principles, notifying authorities as required.
  5. Document and report incidents, accidents, and significant events, maintaining accurate records.
  6. Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including families, caregivers, and healthcare professionals.
  7. Adhere to medication administration guidelines and Residential Care Licensing standards.
  8. Maintain awareness of client well-being, addressing physical, emotional, and mental health needs promptly.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.)
  • CPR/First Aid certification
  • St.Amant training completion during probationary period
  • 1+ years' experience working with individuals with disabilities
  • Knowledge of disability services and current trends
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Valid Manitoba driver's license (not essential for certain locations)
