Role Overview

The Logistics Operations Director will be responsible for directing and overseeing transport operations and procedures, leading and coaching the transport team to deliver an outstanding service to customers and exceeding business objectives.

Main Responsibilities

  • Effectively manage the day-to-day operational performance, coordinating work and responsibilities to ensure excellent service delivery and legislative compliance.
  • Manage the planning operation to meet productivity, safety, and cost targets while ensuring optimum customer satisfaction.
  • Control the workflow of others by giving orders, directions, and guidance to team members to ensure work meets deadlines, volume, and quality standards are met.
  • Monitor, check, and inspect team member work standards and productivity levels to deliver individual and team competence, providing constructive feedback and coaching where necessary.
  • Ensure that all fleet vehicles and team members are compliant with all legal, regulatory, and contractual compliance, including drivers' hours and Working Time Directive.
  • Assist with business development and customer account management by being a positive and proactive point of contact, dealing with and resolving issues, concerns, problems, and complaints in an efficient and effective way.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a transport management role.
  • Previous experience in the use of standard IT systems, including Microsoft packages.
  • Be highly organized and efficient, with a keen eye for detail.
  • An International CPC Road Transport Management qualification.

What We Offer

AV Dawson Limited offers a competitive salary range of £60,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package, including performance and loyalty bonuses, additional holidays, and matched pension contributions. The successful candidate will also have opportunities for development and progression within the company.
