GBR Recruitment Ltd is partnering with a leading food manufacturing business to recruit an experienced Night Shift Hygiene Manager to lead a team of hygiene operatives and team leaders on a Monday to Friday shift pattern.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the night shift hygiene team in carrying out hygiene best practice and deep cleaning across six manufacturing lines. They will also lead audits and manage hygiene-related tasks to ensure high-end food safety and integrity is maintained at all times.

The ideal candidate will be an activist in promoting and maintaining the food integrity culture and will represent the hygiene department during customer visits and third-party audits.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Mentor, coach, and develop the hygiene team to achieve excellence
  • Manage the hygiene cleaning schedule, working closely with production to minimize machinery downtime
  • Manage and delegate work to hygiene operatives
  • Investigate and manage hygiene-related non-conformances in line with company procedures
  • Manage the cleaning of all factory equipment, including cooking tins, racks, and frames
  • Update the Holchem Platform and manage all CICs
  • Support production shift managers with non-conformance investigations
  • Monitor and manage all chemicals and hygiene consumables on site
  • Manage COSHH for the site, including maintenance of chemical lists and SDSs
  • Support the operations team during customer visits and audits
  • Maintain hygiene traceability documentation and present it to customers and third-party auditors
  • Investigate and resolve hygiene-related downtime issues
  • Provide hands-on support to the hygiene team to ensure tasks are completed on time and to a high standard
  • Manage staff holidays and absence
  • Complete gap analysis for staff training
  • Plan and manage staff training and development
  • Manage staff performance
  • Pest control contractor management

Requirements:

  • Level 3 qualified in food safety and HACCP
  • Knowledge of HACCP, COSHH, cleaning chemicals, pest control, and current food safety regulations
  • Experience as a hygiene supervisor or manager in a food environment
  • High-risk experience desired
  • Strong management skills
  • Hands-on, mentor, coach, and leader of others
  • Flexible with working hours and patterns
