About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced specialist female mental health support worker to join our team in Southampton. As a key member of our care team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality support to a female with complex learning difficulties and mental health support needs.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a new and rewarding service, supporting an individual to lead her best life possible. You will be part of a dedicated team that is passionate about delivering person-centred care and specialist mental health support.

About the Person We Support

The person we support is a 21-year-old female with complex learning difficulties and mental health support needs. She is looking to live in her own home in Southampton and requires a high level of support to achieve this goal. She has a strong sense of humour, a love of pizza, and a stylish taste in music.

However, she also presents with verbally and physically challenging behaviours, which requires a highly skilled and patient team to support her. You will need to be cool, calm, and resilient in this role, with a strong ability to connect with the person we support and her family.

You will have the opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge in Positive Behaviour Support methods, Makaton, and the Picture Exchange System.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • A Level 3 in Social Care or equivalent experience
  • Strong experience in mental health support
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A patient and calm approach to challenging behaviours
  • A commitment to delivering person-centred care and support
