Job Summary:

Discover is seeking a skilled Software Development Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Agile environment, you will analyze, design, and develop solutions for our application software. Your expertise in technical design, coding, and test automation will ensure the delivery of high-quality code.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and design new user stories and features with high quality (security, reliability, operations) to production
  • Provide learning tasks and work-related tasks to Associate Application Engineers, direct the work of Senior Associate Application Engineers, and help them continue to grow
  • Achieve team commitments by using informal leadership and highly developed communication skills
  • Have oversight on design decisions and guide the team to achieve key results for products assigned to them
  • Remediate issues using engineering principles and create proactive design solutions for potential failures
  • Contribute to and lead technology communities at Discover

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Information Technology, Software Engineering, or related field
  • Internal applicants only: technical proficiency rating of competent on the Dreyfus engineering scale

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Big Data Framework such as Spark
  • Cloud Platform experience specifically AWS
  • Java and Python
  • Automation experience
