Job Description

We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a leading property development company, for a Quantity Surveyor (M&E) to join their commercial team. The successful candidate will work closely with senior management to manage costs for mechanical and electrical aspects of financial and contractual management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Cost Assessment and Management: Assess and cost projects and programmes of work, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with company policies.
  • Project Coordination: Manage specific elements of work allocated by the Senior Cost Manager/Commercial Executive, ensuring timely completion and quality standards.
  • Tender Evaluation: Assist with the development of approved tender lists, provide budget analysis, and commercial evaluation of tenders, including meetings and supplemental bid documentation.
  • Contract Administration: Assist with the preparation of contract documentation for execution, review trade contract and consultant submittals from a commercial perspective, and respond accordingly.
  • Client Liaison: Liaise with contractors and/or client representatives to ensure instructions are raised and acted upon, costs are received, agreed, and change orders are issued on a regular basis.
  • Financial Management: Ensure accounts are kept up to date throughout the various contract durations, and assist in the inspection of trade contract works for quality and completion from a commercial perspective.
Requirements:
  • Quantity Surveying Experience: Practical work experience in quantity surveying, ideally on large commercial and/or residential projects working on mechanical & electrical packages.
  • Qualifications: A degree in Quantity Surveying/RICS is a requirement for this role.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) are essential for this role.
  • Negotiation Skills: Strong negotiation skills are required to effectively manage costs and contracts.
  • Computer Literacy: Computer literacy is an essential requirement of this role.
  • Attitude and Teamwork: A positive and helpful attitude, strong customer service orientation, and ability to maintain excellent working relationships with the project team and all levels of the organisation are essential.
