About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Structures Engineer to join our team at Ringway Jacobs. As a key member of our structures service, you will play a critical role in designing and implementing structural maintenance and refurbishment on highway structures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage Bridge Data: Oversee the management of bridge data, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information is maintained.
  • Emergency Call-outs: Respond to emergency call-outs and provide timely support to ensure minimal disruption to highway services.
  • NRSWA Compliance: Ensure compliance with the New Roads and Street Works Act (NRSWA) regulations, ensuring our work meets the highest standards.
  • Budget Control: Manage budgets and resources effectively, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Mentor Junior Staff: Provide guidance and support to junior staff, helping them to develop their skills and expertise.
  • Structure Refurbishment, Assessment, and Replacement: Lead on structure refurbishment, assessment, and replacement projects, using your expertise in structural design codes, DMRB, MCHW, and CDM regulations to deliver high-quality results.
  • Health and Safety, Environmental Management System, Quality Management System, and Construction Design Management: Support the implementation of health and safety, environmental management system, quality management system, and construction design management policies and procedures, with the aim of minimizing work-related injuries.
  • Design, Planning, Programme Highway Structures Works and Services: Prepare design, planning, and programme highway structures works and services, ensuring they meet the required standards.
  • Advice and Expertise: Provide timely and accurate advice to County Councillors, District Members, Parish Councils, and the public on all structures-related matters.
  • Understanding of Essex Highways: Understand the overall functions, aims, and directions of Essex Highways, and how the structures service fits into those objectives.
About You

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Structures Engineer who possesses:

  • Design knowledge with Eurocodes and modern standards
  • DMRB knowledge and application of Health and Safety legislation, including Construction (Design & Management) Regulations
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with people both internally and our supply chain partners
  • A valid driving licence
