About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Emergency Planning Officer to join our team at Richmond and Wandsworth Council. As a key member of our Emergency Planning team, you will play a vital role in preparing for and responding to emergencies in our diverse and dynamic area.

Your day-to-day work will involve designing and delivering training and exercises, reviewing and improving response plans, collaborating with external organisations, and supporting Council services with their business continuity arrangements.

You will be part of a supportive team and will work regularly with colleagues in other departments. We are proud to be a Disability Confident employer and are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people/vulnerable adults.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Design and deliver training and exercises to ensure effective emergency response
  2. Review and improve response plans to ensure they are up-to-date and effective
  3. Collaborate with external organisations to share best practices and improve emergency planning
  4. Support Council services with their business continuity arrangements
  5. Help develop new capabilities to increase our preparedness

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Confidence working in a project delivery environment with rapidly changing priorities
  • An understanding of the aims and objectives of emergency planning and business continuity
  • Familiarity with the Joint Emergency Services Interoperability Principles (JESIP) and Civil Contingencies Act
  • Experience of using Microsoft Office packages, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
