We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Early Years Officer to join our team at Scottish Borders Council. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the planning and delivery of Early Learning and Childcare (ELC) in our school Nursery settings.

Key Responsibilities

The Early Years Officer will work under the direction of the head teacher and in collaboration with the central Early Years Improvement Team to:

  • Lead other staff in the Nursery and work as part of a wider team to deliver ELC
  • Develop and implement effective ELC plans and strategies
  • Monitor and evaluate the quality of ELC provision
  • Provide guidance and support to staff on ELC best practice

Requirements

The successful candidate will possess:

  • HNC in Childhood Practice/Childcare and Education
  • SVQ Social Services (Children & Young People) SCQF 7 / SVQ 3 Children's Care, Learning and Development
  • SNNEB/NNEB

In addition, the candidate will be required to have at least one of the following:

  • BA Childhood Practice PDA 8 or 9 in Childhood Practice/Early Education and Childcare
  • SVQ Social Services (Children & Young People) SCQF 9 / SVQ4 Children's Care, Learning and Development

All successful applicants will be required to be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) within 6 months of appointment and maintain registration throughout the period of employment.
