Job Title: PMLD Support Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic PMLD Support Assistant to join our team at GSL Education. The ideal candidate will provide crucial support to students with profound and multiple learning difficulties, ensuring a secure and nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with PMLD, promoting their physical, emotional, and social development.
  • Assist with the implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs), ensuring a tailored approach to each student's needs.
  • Support students with their personal care tasks, including feeding, toileting, and mobility, in a respectful and sensitive manner.
  • Adapt learning materials and resources to meet the needs of students, promoting inclusivity and accessibility.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to ensure a holistic approach to student care, promoting a seamless and effective learning experience.
  • Maintain accurate records of students' progress and well-being, providing valuable insights for educators and caregivers.
Requirements:
  • Experience working with children with severe special educational needs, particularly PMLD, with a strong commitment to supporting students with complex needs.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Basic understanding of child development and learning strategies, with a willingness to adapt and innovate.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
Desirable:
  • Relevant qualifications or training in special education or childcare, with a focus on supporting students with PMLD.
  • Experience working in a special school or similar setting, with a proven track record of supporting students with complex needs.
