We are seeking a highly skilled and creative Senior Chef to join our team at Excelcare Holdings in Whittlesey. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a family-owned care home group established for over 34 years, providing the highest standards of care to older people with various needs.

Job Summary

This role involves preparing and cooking nutritious meals using fresh ingredients, working closely with healthcare professionals to ensure meal plans meet individual dietary requirements, and maintaining quality assurance systems within the kitchen.

The successful candidate will have experience of cooking for large numbers, a NVQ Level 2 in catering and hospitality, and at least 2 years' experience in a catering environment. Excellent interpersonal skills are essential as you will be involved in meaningful activities with residents and promoting independence, choice, dignity, and respect.

About the Role

As the Care Home Chef, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and cooking nutritious meals using fresh ingredients
  • Scheduling weekly meal menus, taking into account individual dietary requirements
  • Working with the Home Manager to ensure that ordering of stock is aligned with budgetary requirements
  • Collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure meal plans and dietary requirements align with individuals' support plans and risk assessments
  • Maintaining quality assurance systems within the kitchen
  • Undertaking supervision of other kitchen team members
  • Ensuring a full understanding of Health & Safety and Food Hygiene issues, COSHH, and working within guidelines relating to contamination and cross infection
What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary of £14.00 per hour (dependent on experience), 28 days holiday including bank holidays, free on-site parking, and enhancement to pay on bank holidays. Additionally, we provide a DBS certificate paid by Excelcare, comprehensive induction programme, funded qualifications via the apprenticeship programme, paid uniform, and employee recognition schemes.
