Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Consultant Anaesthetist to join our team at the University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality anaesthesia across various surgical specialties.

The role involves working within adult general theatres and being part of the adult general on-call rota, with flexibility to cover paediatric theatres. The job plan includes an average session in paediatric theatres per week to maintain skill.

Our hospital is the largest in the Southwest Peninsula, providing secondary care to approximately 500,000 patients and tertiary care to a further 1 million. We offer a wide range of adult surgical specialties, including cardiac, neurosurgery, thoracics, and paediatrics.

The successful candidate will participate in the general on-call rota, which covers general surgery, obstetrics, major trauma, IR, and neurosurgery. There are separate on-call rotas for paediatrics, ICU, and cardiac.
